You’ve been hiking all day and now there’s only one thing on your mind:
FOOD!
Eating can sometimes feel like a chore when on a hike because there are so few meals that you can make with lack of refrigeration, bag space and cooking equipment. However, this does not mean you should sacrifice flavor as there are a lot of delicious meals that can be made easily with just a few ingredients over a camping stove.
A great hiking meal should be nutritious, easy to make and most importantly something that you can look forward to after a hard day. A pot noodle is just not going to do!
Here are my top three camping meals.
Pasta with Tomato and Basil Sauce
This is a great meal because it’s easy to make, filling and tastes amazing. It also won’t take up much space in your bag and won’t expire during your hike.

Ingredients:
Dolmio pasta twists
Dolmio sauce
Pepperami (optional)
1. Bring water to a boil in your stove and add the pasta. Cook for three minutes.
2. Drain excess water from the pan and add the sauce.
3. Mix the sauce into the pasta.
4. (Optional) Cut up a pepperami and add it to the pasta for extra protein.
Camp Burritos
This is a quick and easy meal that is full of protein and will refuel you after a long, hard day.
Ingredients:

Wraps
Pre-cooked chicken (any flavor)
Boil in the bag rice
(optional) Small sachet of hot sauce
1. Bring water to a boil in your stove and add boil in a bag rice. The rice should take about 10 minutes to cook (depending on the brand).
2. After the rice is cooked, place your wrap on a plate and spread the rice evenly on it.
3. Place the chicken on the frying pan part of the stove until chicken is warm. This is a good time to evenly spread hot sauce on the rice for extra flavor.
4. Add the warm chicken to the wrap and fold up your burrito.
Pancakes
Pancakes are a great treat to enjoy around a campfire and are also fun and easy to make.

Ingredients:
Pancakes
Nutella
Marshmallows (optional)
1. Warm the pancake on frying pan and add Nutella.
2. While the Nutella is melting over the pancake, put a marshmallow on the end of a stick and hold it over the campfire to toast it.
3. Place the toasted marshmallow on top of the pancake and enjoy!
